<p>We are delighted to share the news that 200 solar lanterns have been distributed to families in the Diocese of Karonga, thanks to the fundraising efforts of parishioners here in Tonbridge.</p>
<p>The distribution took place in late November, ahead of the Christmas season. For many families, this is the first time they have had reliable light in their homes after dark.</p>
<h2>What This Means</h2>
<p>Before the lanterns arrived, families relied on kerosene lamps — expensive, smelly and a fire hazard. Children struggled to study after sunset. The solar lights change that completely.</p>
<p>Father Emmanuel, our contact at St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral, wrote to us: <em>"The joy on people's faces when they received their lanterns was something I will not forget. Please thank everyone in Tonbridge."</em></p>
